We are proud to announce that majority of our junior teams at Tramway Football Club are participating at the 2019 Knockout Cup Finals of the Tygerberg LFA. The club has been extremely focused on developing our juniors and equipping them with the tools to be future stars of South African football. To produce outstanding players, we have excellent coaches who have experience of playing at the highest levels. Our junior coaches have been outstanding throughout the season! The coaches work with our juniors until their late teens with the focus on developing their mental understanding as well as technical ability to play the game, holistically implementing the basics of ball control all the way to the more advanced technical skills, maintaining possession both individually and collectively, intelligently constructing an attack and responding well in defence.
Teaching these principles of the play take fundamental precedence over results.
We would like to congratulate our u12A, 12B, u13, u14B, u15 boys and u14 girls for reaching the finals of this 2019 Knockout Cup season. All these teams have shown terrific teamwork and individual skills throughout the rounds of the competition.
Tramway U/12A and U/12B this year started with a multitude of boys with various levels of talent, from those who have played soccer from a junior level to those who only started. We have been fortunate as coaches to watch them grow and learn and become friends, teammates, and exceptional players this pasted year. Our U/12B went to win the league in their division and we congratulate the managers, coaches, and players for their success.
Our A team (team 1) was set to play Kensington in the first of their knockout games which just so happened to be a week after we faced each other in the league, a formidable team. The time in the year where our Muslim members celebrate the month of Ramadan and some of our boys left for Sweden, this meant our teams were a bit shy of players. We stuck it out and we ended our knockout quarterfinal match with a 2 – 1 win with Coaches, parents, and players leaving the field with a feeling of awe knowing that they were through to the semi-finals.
We then went on to face Clyde Pinelands in the Knockout semi-finals at De Beers and what a surprise to win the game before it even kicked off by them having to forfeit with not enough cards. With a disappointed heart, we took to the field to play a friendly giving the spectators something to enjoy. We left the field victors, with our spot in the final secured.
And now we await our fate in the last of our quest, as we meet Durbanville, a formidable rival, on the pitch at Norway Parks to battle one last time for the title of Knockout Cup Champions.
Our u14B boys have won their respective league and our u14 girls, despite this being a fairly new team, have ended 2nd in their respective league narrowly missing out on winning it, a great achievement on their part! All teams have shown pure dedication, exemplary attitudes throughout this season which has led to Tramway FC having a clean record in relation to our disciplinary conduct with the Tygerberg LFA. Again, we commend all our junior teams for an exceptional season!
Tramway FC’s future looks bright, and we can proudly say that we are going in the right direction!
On the Ball, On the Ball!
