Tramway FC comes from Southfield, Cape Town which lies approximately 10000 km from Göteborg, where Gothia Cup takes place. The city of Cape Town was well represented in that it had three other representative clubs beside Tramway Football Club participating at the Gothia Cup 2019 edition.
The Tramway U/18 and U/12 teams experienced many things on the trip to Sweden. They were extremely happy to play in Europe and see a different football culture. This was the boys first trip overseas and to meet people from all over the world was a great experience. They met people who could not speak a word of English; however, football was the main language. They saw how different teams operated in comparison to ours, and they learned a lot of things from a footballing perspective. The tournament was very tough, and the boys had to learn how to stick together as a team and help one another. They had lots of fun even though they were participating in such a huge International tournament – many of these boys said that it felt like they were playing in a World Cup. The best game by far was the match against the Swedish team called Mossens Bk. It was a very tough encounter, but the whole team gave their all-in order to win that game. Unfortunately, we lost all our other matches, but the whole experience was priceless!
The U/18 most outstanding player was Neo Zulu – he had an outstanding tournament, the officials acknowledged him and shook his hand, noting how well he had played.
The U/18 boys team had Alta I.F, Mossen BK, and Gwinnet SA in their group
In the U/12 boys team had Sollentuna FK, V.Frolunda IF and LAZ Stockerau in their group.
